Weapons Tier List

This page is the detailed weapons tier list for official RIVALS by Nosniy Games and for practice inside Axolotls Modded Rivals unlocked lobbies. Rankings below assume fair duel rules—no silent aim, no rapid-fire injectors (see the Scripts Hub for why those invalidate any tier talk). If you only need the shortlist, start at the Tier List Hub; if you need complete kits, continue to Loadouts.

Ranking criteria

We score each weapon on five axes:

  1. Neutral win rate in common mid-range duels.
  2. Range flexibility without hard counters every round.
  3. Utility value (slow, paint, vortex, deflect, mobility).
  4. Cost efficiency in Keys on official servers.
  5. Skill floor / ceiling so both new and high-aim players get honest advice.

A weapon that requires perfect headshots every fight can still be S-tier for aimers while being a trap for beginners—we call that out explicitly.

S-tier primaries

Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle is the meta anchor. It is free, sprays with manageable recoil, and contests close, mid, and long angles without demanding a one-shot. Burst in 3–4 round groups at distance, track through strafe resets, and only reload behind cover. In Axolotls Modded Rivals you can glam it with any wrap immediately; on official RIVALS, pair it with codes Keys spent on a secondary first—not a vanity primary.

Sniper

The Sniper owns sightline maps and high ground. Body shots chunk; criticals delete. The weakness is close rushes and slow recovery after a miss. Always equip a panic secondary (Exogun or Uzi) and pre-aim common swing spots. Modded lobbies are ideal for practicing scope timing without fearing a Keys regret buy.

Permafrost

Permafrost is the Contraband burst primary that applies slow and freeze pressure. It wins by denying enemy movement after the first burst connects. Official acquisition is Keys- or pass-gated; modded places often unlock it instantly so you can learn ammo management before investing. Watch freeze windows before committing melee.

Shotgun

Shotgun deletes anyone who shares a doorway with you. Pellet damage plus corridor utility (including vortex-style pulls on some patches) makes it the close-range S pick. Do not hard-scope long lanes—swing corners, shoot, and reset. Excellent duo with Revolver or Exogun for mid cleanup.

Paintball Gun

Paintball Gun rewards tracking and applies disruptive paint that ruins enemy vision / movement depending on the current patch notes. It sits in S-tier for aimers who already spray accurately with Assault Rifle and want more utility. Newer players should master AR first.

A-tier primaries

Wildcat (Update 22 SMG, buffed in Update 23) sits in high A-tier / situational S on tight maps: strong close-mid spray after the magazine and damage buffs, still less universal than Assault Rifle on mixed arenas. Test it in Modded Rivals before spending Keys—details on Update 22–23.

Burst Rifle, Energy Rifle, and strong situational picks like Crossbow variants also land in A-tier: lethal in the right hands, slightly less forgiving than the S band. Distortion and heavy novelty Contraband guns often live here when their vortex or gimmick is strong but their neutral loses to Assault Rifle.

B-tier and below

RPG, Minigun, Bow, and Gunblade-style hybrids occupy B-tier for most ranked rulesets—high impact moments, poor consistency. Flamethrower and Grenade Launcher usually sit in C-tier for serious duels: fun in modded free-for-alls, easy to punish in clean 1v1s. Use them for content clips, not for climbing.

S-tier secondaries

SecondaryRole
ExogunForgiving pressure; strong into shields / Katana defense
RevolverFan-the-hammer finishes on wounded targets
UziBudget SMG cleanup; pairs with Permafrost / AR

Buy Uzi early if Keys are tight after redeeming FREE200 and friends. Save for Exogun when you want a secondary that feels like a mini-primary. Revolver shines if you already play peek-shoot-fall back angles.

Melee tier notes

Katana — fast swings, defensive tech against hitscan, high skill expression.
Scythe — gap closes and vertical plays; great for aggressive entries.
Knife — backstab reward, riskier in open lanes.
Default Fists — fine for your first hour; replace once guns are comfortable.

Official Keys vs modded unlocks

On official RIVALS, spend Keys in this order for most players: secondary upgrade → Shotgun or Sniper based on map pool → melee → Permafrost/Contraband flex. Inside Axolotls Modded Rivals, skip the economy and rotate every S-tier primary for twenty duels each. Muscle memory transfers; inventory unlocks do not—read Unlock skins.

Counter cheat sheet

  • Losing to Sniper? Smoke angles with movement, force close range, bring Shotgun.
  • Losing to Shotgun? Deny doorways, hold mid with AR/Permafrost, use Exogun when they whiff.
  • Losing to Permafrost? Break line of sight during slow, do not challenge freeze in the open.
  • Losing to Paintball? Strafe unpredictably and win the first paint trade with AR bursts.

Practice plan

  1. Warm up thirty Assault Rifle duels (controls).
  2. Ten Shotgun-only rounds on close maps.
  3. Ten Sniper holds with mandatory secondary swaps.
  4. Review a creator VOD from the Players Hub without scripts.
  5. Lock a loadout before ranked.

Patch disclaimer

Numbers drift after Nosniy balance updates. We re-check S-tier membership when the Updates Hub logs a weapon patch. If your favorite drops a tier, swap back to Assault Rifle for a week before rewriting your identity.

Master the S-tier five, pick one secondary from the shortlist, and treat everything else as situational. That discipline beats chasing every new Contraband skin thumbnail.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Axolotls Modded Rivals, codes, and loadouts.

What is the best weapon in RIVALS right now?

Assault Rifle is the best all-round primary. Sniper, Permafrost, Shotgun, and Paintball Gun complete the S-tier primary band for specialized ranges and utilities.

Which secondary should I buy first?

Uzi if you need a cheap close-range answer, Exogun if you want forgiving mid pressure, and Revolver if you play peek-and-finish angles.

Are tier lists different in Axolotls Modded Rivals?

Gun strength is similar; only unlock cost changes. Use modded lobbies to practice S-tier kits, then spend Keys intentionally on official servers.

Where do I find full loadout builds?

See the Loadouts guide for starter free, close-range, sniper angle-hold, and Permafrost flex builds linked from this tier list.
